SUMMARY:Qi Gong: Eight Brocades
DESCRIPTION:Qigong is a subtle and gentle practice for moving your vital energy.\n\n\n\nDr. Greenapple who has studied\, taught\, and practiced many forms of Qi Gong will lead you through this calming class that incorporates a variety of different forms of Medical Qi Gong and internal or self-regulating Qi Gong.\nThis class will incorporate gentle movements\, breath practices\, self-massage\, relaxation\, visualization\, and meditative practice. Wear your comfortable clothes. These movements can be done seated or standing. \n$35 per session. Read more below. \n\n\n\n\nDetails:\nCost: $35 \nDates: March 6th & March 12th \nTime: 6:30p – 7:45p \nSignup on Mindbody\, or call the office 704-390-7150 \n  \n\nThis two part series will be on one of the most famous Qi Gong practices called “The Eight Silken Movements or The Eight Brocades” (also called Baduanjin in Chinese).  These movements are usually considered a medical form of Qi Gong and used to improve your overall health and wellbeing.  This class will teach the “Wu Dang Style of the Eight Brocades” where Dr. G went to the Wu Dang mountains in China to learn from a famous Chinese Master.\n\nThe movements address all the meridians or channels in the body and help move stagnation which can create disease in both the body and mind. There are numerous benefits to this Qi Gong practice that are said to improve overall energy\, (achieve the wisdom of a 90 year old and the energy of a 9 year old)\, vitality\, bone density\, strength\, flexibility\, balance\, coordination\, longevity to name a few. As well\, these practices are great for reducing blood pressure\, cancer support\, thyroid and hormonal issues\, gastro intestinal support\, headaches\, chronic fatigue\, depression/anxiety\, back pain\, arthritis and more.\n\nAncient Chinese texts reveal that the Eight Silken Brocades were a specific form of Qi Gong designed to eliminate fatigue and harness energy which allows for greater longevity and stress reduction. It gets its name from the eight movements and the silken quality of the movements during the forms.\n\nThe first class will cover the first 4 movements and the second class will finish the last 4.  We will combine all the moves at the end so you will learn the entire sequence. We will go over some Eastern Philosophy so you have an understanding of how this form of Traditional Chinese Medicine helps heal the mind/body connection.  We will balance your body\, mind\, heart and spirit through the movements. Learn to transform negative emotions into productive forces. Tap into your innate body’s ability to turn on the healer within to help prevent disease\, address any current health problems and enhance your quality of life.  We will end with a brief guided meditation that Dr. G will lead.\n\nAs Dr. G likes to call Qi Gong\, “Acupuncture without Needles” \, “Movement Meditation” or what Harvard has deemed “Movement Medication”. This is a great way to enhance any current acupuncture treatments you may be getting and will lessen the dependency of treatments creating your own health care you can do at home anytime.

SUMMARY:Yoga and Learn: Thriving to Be Optimal
DESCRIPTION:Annual blood testing is the most important step patients can take to prevent life-threatening diseases; however\, most patients do not get the in-depth testing that can give them the tools to optimize their health.\n\nA conventional visit typically includes a blood count\, a CMP\, a lipid profile and if you are lucky a TSH. Getting functional testing will help to catch critical changes in a patient’s functional state before they manifest as heart disease\, diabetes\, cancer\, or worse. Having the proper blood tests in hand and knowing how to do a thorough functionally oriented analysis of the results can empower patients to enact science-based disease-prevention programs that could add decades of healthy function to patients’ lives. Learn about what tests to consider to look deeper into your health.\n\n\n\nJoin us to learn how to optimize your life and Thrive! We’ll begin with a 55-minute yoga class with Suzanne Bergen and end with a short presentation by Thrive providers. All levels are welcome; modifications will be offered. Wear your yoga clothes and bring your mat! \n\nDetails:\nCost: $35 – FREE for Thrivers! \nDate: May 20th \nTime: 6:00p – 7:30p \nSignup on Mindbody\, or call the office 704-390-7150

SUMMARY:Yoga for the Pelvic Floor: Empower Your Body and Mind
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to reconnect with your pelvic floor and enhance your overall well-being?\nJoin Madison Baer\, Ph.D.\, RYT 500 (www.lavendermatyoga.com)\, on Saturday\, January 25th\, for a Yoga for the Pelvic Floor Workshop. This transformative session integrates pelvic education\, pelvis mapping\, anatomy insights\, gentle yoga poses\, restorative movement\, breathwork\, and meditation to help support and strengthen your pelvic floor. \nWhy Focus on the Pelvic Floor?\nIn modern society\, a lack of awareness and stigma surrounding the pelvis often leaves women disconnected from their authentic selves and creative power. This workshop fosters the reclamation of chakras one through three\, associated with the pelvis and core. These energy centers are vital to personal strength\, self-expression\, and the ability to vocalize needs. \nThere are so many life-altering symptoms and conditions that most women don’t even realize result from pelvic floor dysfunction. The pelvic floor is not shown the attention women require to live full\, vibrant\, happy\, and healthy lives. Many people know what it feels like to swing their arms or curl their fingers\, but rarely do people say that they know what their pelvic floor movements feels like. The pelvic floor is an ignored part of the body that plays such a huge role in your overall health. Tension and or weakness in your pelvis wreaks havoc on your entire body and nervous systems. \nWhy Attend the Workshop?\nThis workshop goes beyond yoga poses; it’s a holistic approach to understanding and healing your pelvic floor. It helps you: \n\nReconnect with this vital part of your body.\nPractice intentional relaxation and release.\nAddress physical and emotional tension stored in the pelvis.\nLearn to tune into your pelvic floor for better health and well-being.\n\nWhat to Expect:\nMadison Baer\, Ph.D.\, RYT 500 a certified yoga instructor with expertise in prenatal yoga\, gentle yoga\, and pelvic floor yoga\, creates a safe\, inviting space for participants of all levels. Each pose is tailored to address the pelvic floor and its connections to areas such as the rib cage\, transverse abdominals\, glutes\, and hips. \nParticipants will also receive access to Madison’s Women’s Wellness Ultimate Guide via Google Docs. This comprehensive resource includes her top recommendations for books\, articles\, links\, products\, and more to support your wellness journey. \nWho Should Attend?\nThis workshop is designed for all women\, especially those experiencing: \n\nPelvic organ prolapse\nPelvic floor dysfunction\nPostpartum recovery (6+ weeks postpartum)\nPregnancy\nLow libido\nOveractive/tense pelvic floor\nUrinary frequency or urgency\nConstipation\nSI joint pain or sciatica\nBladder stress or leaking\nPainful periods or hormonal imbalances\nDiscomfort or pain with penetration\nMenopause-related challenges\n\nNote: Please ensure you have been cleared by your doctor\, physical therapist\, or midwife before participating. \nReclaim Your Health and Empowerment\nThe pelvic floor is often overlooked but significantly affects women’s overall health. This workshop is an opportunity to deeply connect with your body\, discover your personal strength and power\, and improve your physical and emotional well-being. \nJoin us in the Thrive studio on January 25th and start your journey toward pelvic floor health today!
