Dr. Scott D. Greenapple, DC, CCSP, C.Ac., FIAMA, is an experienced integrative healthcare provider with a career spanning more than three decades. He has practiced in Charlotte, North Carolina for the past 24 years, after 10 years in California, with a longstanding commitment to helping patients improve function, reduce pain, and build long-term resilience.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management and Hospital Administration through the California State University system and his doctorate from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles. In 1989, he completed post-doctoral education and earned his Certified Sports Physician credential.
Dr. Greenapple is the former owner and founder of Greenapple Sports and Wellness Center in Charlotte. His sports medicine background is extensive: he was selected six times to serve on USA medical staff for World Triathlon and Duathlon teams, traveling internationally to support elite athletes. He was also part of the original “Irondocs” team at Ironman races, served for eight years on medical staff at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, and has worked with athletes across the PGA and professional, Olympic, collegiate, and high school levels. His certifications include biomechanical evaluation with emphasis on running and triathlon, as well as TPI certification for golf performance.
As part of his community commitment, Dr. Greenapple has volunteered and led clinics for Leukemia Team In Training, local youth organizations, and colleges. He has also served as an instructor in Active Release Technique (ART), a specialized myofascial and nerve entrapment treatment system, since 1993.
Since 2005, Dr. Greenapple has focused increasingly on Eastern and integrative medicine approaches, combining acupuncture, medical acupuncture, mindfulness, and movement-based therapies to support illness recovery, injury prevention, performance enhancement, stress reduction, anxiety, depression, and overall health and wellness. He became a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 2005 and has completed more than 1,000 hours of acupuncture-focused training through seminars, symposiums, and advanced coursework. He was also selected for and completed a six-month intensive sports acupuncture apprenticeship in Boulder, Colorado.
His additional training includes certification in Dry Needling, Electro-Acupuncture Medicine, and use of NeuroPuncture methods. He integrates traditional techniques with modern tools, including computerized meridian imaging and neuroscience-informed acupuncture systems.
Dr. Greenapple is certified to teach Qi Gong through the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi and teaches multiple mindfulness meditation methods for patients, groups, and organizations. He continues to pursue advanced training in Eastern medicine and integrative biomedicine, including immersive study in China with Buddhist and Daoist teachers.
In 2018, Dr. Greenapple joined Thrive Center for Healthcare and Wellness, a functional and integrative medical practice, where he collaborates with medical physicians and provides acupuncture, Qi Gong/Tai Chi, mindfulness meditation, HeartMath biofeedback, and cranial electrostimulation support.
In addition to individualized care, he teaches workshops in Qi Gong, meditation, and therapeutic exercise for chronic condition support, including programs for people living with osteoporosis and for individuals navigating cancer treatment and recovery. His approach is practical, compassionate, and rooted in helping each person build a sustainable path to better health.
