Thriver Spotlight: Ashton Dunn

Ashton’s passion for dietetics and nutritional medicine brought her to Thrive when we first opened. In the past, you might have seen her working at our front desk, she is now serving our patients as a Nurse while studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. We’re proud to have Ashton and hope you enjoy learning a bit about her in this Thriver Spotlight!

What’s your name?

Ashton Dunn

What is your superpower at Thrive?

I’ve worn about every hat possible here at Thrive… The only thing I can’t do is be a doctor (one day!).

Why did you choose the field of Medicine

I have always had an interest in preventative medicine. After studying Nutrition Science in undergrad, I knew I wanted to work in a field that is preventative vs reactive. It is a blessing to work at Thrive and see patients improve on symptoms they had been dealing with for years.

Education

University of Georgia

What’s so special about Thrive?

It truly is a place for anyone at any stage of life! We have patients from all walks of life with about every diagnosis you can imagine. Each person is seen for the individual, not just a case. Also, the entire staff here is amazing! We all really do love working here and are excited to go to work.

Where did you grow up?

The QC!

Any Activities/Hobbies outside of Thrive?

Family, Friends are number 1! I also lead Younglife at East Meck High school and absolutely love it. I have such a heart for high school kids.

If you could recommend one thing to someone new coming to thrive it would be?

Try EVERYTHING! We offer so many services with so many great providers.

What is your definition of Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is addressing the root cause of a disease and not just treating the signs and symptoms.

What is the best piece of information you could give to a new patient?

Come prepared! The more information we have prior, the more effective your time with your physician will be. The best part of the appointment is getting the chance to be heard. We do not limit appointment times to make sure we address everything that needs to be addressed.

What’s on your Netflix Que?

The Office on repeat

Dog Kisses on the mouth

What does Jordan do that annoys you?
