Motivation: Adapting to the Winter Season
Can you believe it – December 21st is the first official day of winter.
Dr. Scott Greenapple has a few suggestions on how to adapt to the winter season in this week’s Motivation.
- Winter is the time for internal work and a time to gather strength, repair + replenish your physical and mental being. Go to bed early and wait for the sun to come up
- before rising.
- Eat warming foods like soup, cooked vegetables + herbs such as:
- Squash
- Peas
- Beans
- Root vegetable
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Carrots
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Surround yourself with warm colors and candles, and curl up next to a fire.
In addition, acupuncture is a great way to create balance, clear stagnation, and increase the energy, or “Qi” (energy and life force) of the body. Mindful meditation and Qi Gong can help with quieting the mind and creating balance with your emotions and mental status.
Have a healthy, happy, and balanced winter season.
