Antioxidant-Rich Steak Marinade

Created: June 22, 2023

Updated: June 10, 2025

Marinating with antioxidant-rich herbs like rosemary, oregano, and basil can help reduce harmful free radicals produced during high-heat cooking.

For the healthiest results, choose grass-fed, organic beef when possible, and pair your steak with plenty of vegetables. Keep condiments to a small portion; your plate should be mostly plants.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons each of chopped fresh basil, oregano, and rosemary (6 tablespoons total)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Dash of cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Place steak in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour marinade over it.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  4. Grill or pan-sear steak to your preferred doneness, avoiding charring for optimal health benefits.
  5. Serve sliced over a bed of arugula or mixed greens for a nutrient-packed meal.
