We all know that sleep is important, but just how important is it?

According to Dr. Larson, sleep is essential for every aspect of our health. Quality sleep is the foundation, from clear thinking to emotional balance, from maintaining a healthy weight to supporting your immune system.

Unfortunately, many of us aren’t getting enough of it. Sleep can be elusive, whether it’s due to stress, hormones, screen time, or a packed schedule. But the good news? Small changes to your sleep routine can make a big difference.

Here are a few tips Dr. Larson recommends to improve your sleep hygiene:

  • Establish a consistent bedtime and wake-up time. Your body thrives on rhythm.
  • Create a calming nighttime routine. This might include herbal tea, gentle yoga, or reading a real book.
  • Limit screen time before bed. The blue light from your devices can disrupt melatonin production.
  • Set your space for sleep. A cool, dark, quiet room can help your brain settle into rest mode.
