Dr. Nancy A. Palermo “The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it. “Hippocrates It is estimated that over 44 million Americans suffer from mental disease and half of all adults will struggle with mental illness during their lifetime. Depression and anxiety are the most common diagnoses. Women are twice as likely as men to be diagnosed. One in seven women are medicated for depression and anxiety and 1out of 4 are on a medication by the time they reach their forties. Conventional approaches to mental disease focus on imbalances of neurotransmitters with treatment involving medications to increase or decrease the abnormalities. Gluten Free Cooking

The gluten we are currently eating is not what our grandparents ate. Today’s gluten has been hybridized and processed and saturated with glyphosate (Roundup) a pesticide commonly used in the harvesting of wheat. Gluten is a common food sensitivity. Unfortunately, many gluten-free food options are not always healthy alternatives. Homemade Gluten-Free Flour Blend   4 ½ cups plus 1/3 cup white rice flour 1 2/3 cups brown rice flour 1 1/3 cup potato starch ¾ cup tapioca starch 3 T nonfat milk powder Whisk together all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 months. Can freeze for up...

Grilled Mediterranean Chicken Kebobs

Grilled Mediterranean Chicken Kebobs Summer is right around the corner and it's time to start thinking about healthy grilling! This recipe is one of my favorites. It's full of flavor, and healthy natural herbs. Don't be afraid to modify, one of my favorite adds to this recipe is to add a big bunch of German Thyme to the marinade. Adding simple cucumber tzatziki is a nice way to add some fresh flavor to this recipe. Give it a try this weekend! Now when a patient has an emergent problem most primary care physicians immediately refer him to an Urgent Care or Emergency facility for treatment. Available appointments with the primary physicians are few and far between. This brings us to the current growth of Urgent Care and Emergency facilities. The public’s demand for immediate access to 24-7 medical care has fueled this growth. The rise in growth started in the 1990s and continues to increase today. The increase in accessibility has made the choices more confusing for patients. With the Affordable Care Act and increased patient deductibles, patients are often influenced by the financial aspects of their care...
